Welcome to P’apiu Ha Giang! We have been preparing for your secluded getaway in nature and love. 

The true essence of our existence is a life full of love. We’re learning every day to deepen our relationship with the world we live in by reflecting on what it means to live and lead sustainably and by integrating good practices into our daily operations.

We do our best to deliver a rewarding and inspiring stay for our guests with minimal negative impacts and maximal positive impacts on our environment and local communities. We invite you to join us to be a force for good in the world.

With your support, we can make a world of difference! Here are a few ideas to make your stay eco-friendlier. We are happy and curious to hear your suggestions about anything else we could do to make your stay even greener!

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by efficient energy use

100% of our lighting and air conditioning are energy efficient. We maintain and service our equipment on a regular basis to avoid energy leaks, lengthen its life span and therefore reduce electrical waste. 

We set the air conditioning by default at 25-26 degrees to keep you cool and healthy. Did you know changing the temperature by 1°C can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0,5 kg per day? 

Electrical equipment used in villas is energy efficient

Our curtains are there to ensure a cozy feel in your room. They are also a natural tool to preserve the temperature in the room when it’s hot or cold outside. Closing curtains when you are out will help to keep it cool when you are back. 

The air conditioning works best when all doors and windows are closed. Heated or cooled air escapes through an open window and more energy has to be used to restore the temperature again. 

Minimize water waste to share with the locals

Water, especially in summer, is a scarce resource in Ha Giang. People of Ha Giang consume on average 20.6 liters per person per day. We promise not to jeopardize the water resource for our local people by doing our best to avoid water waste. We have installed aerators to reduce our water waste. 

P’apiu chose to design an environmentally friendly Jacuzzi that does not affect groundwater  thereby reducing water scarcity in Ha Giang

You are invited to play a part by closing the tap while brushing your teeth or shaving. That will help to save up to 12 liters of water per minute! 

Your decision of reusing the towel and bed linen helps to save 50 liters of water. That’s double the water consumption of one local person per day. Let’s change the norm by unchanging the towel!

Produce less waste to keep the planet clean

The Ha Giang government does not have a waste management program for its locals.  Notwithstanding, we make many efforts to generate less waste. We package your drinking water with a glass bottle, we refill your amenities to avoid single-use waste. We choose products with minimal packaging. Re-using everything which is in good condition is our principle, and if we do not need something anymore, we give it to others who may find it useful. And of course, we recycle the remaining waste such as bottles, cans, cardboard, and paper. 

P’apiu say no to any kind of plastic products

It takes water, energy, people, and time to produce any ingredients for the meal. We make sure to calculate the right amount to use for every authentic meal we are cooking for you to avoid any food waste possible. By the way, do you recognize that our menu is seasonal and served with many organic and locally sourced ingredients? Some of them come directly from our organic garden. We aim to introduce the authentic taste of Ha Giang.
